Britain’s butterflies are bouncing back thanks to gardens providing finding a safe haven, a new report reveals. Half of 22 species of butterfly surveyed saw a faster increase in gardens than other habitats between 2007 and 2020. The study by the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) is the first to look butterfly trends in UK gardens separately from those in the wider countryside.
